Winter Container
This project evolved around a discussion on the contrast between the use of outside spaces in Copenhagen in the summer versus the winter. Parks and plazas that are full of life during the summer months stand empty during a large part of winter.
The idea was to create a mobile piece of large furniture that would promote winter usage of outdoor urban spaces by providing heat and shelter to the visitor. To construct our winter pavillion we used a discarded 8 foot container and refurbished it with a wood burning stove and a bench that is heated by the smoke of the stove. The has had several locations as it is being adopted by different entities of the local community - the church, cafés, the cultural center etc.
